We did it!

The road will be repaired.

Harrell Roberts and Kent Williams, long-time Townsend Forest neighbors.

Action we take now can ensure the Townsend Forest neighborhood of a safe, smooth, no-more-potholes road forever!

Safety for vehicles and pedestrians

Enhanced property values

one-time pain = long-term BENEFITS

Dangerous shoulders.

Cracked pavement & deep potholes.

All our roads should be and can be this pristine.

Here’s what’s next:

1

If you made a pledge, you will receive a detailed email about how the campaign finished up. Hint…it was a huge success, and as a result, the amount of EVERYONE’S pledge will be significantly reduced. That’s strength in numbers. With 36 total pledges from households from every corner of the subdivision, we exceeded our monetary goal. Since we require $13,500 for the repair project, everyone will pay proportionately less than anticipated.

2

Now it’s time to PAY your pledge.

Hunt’s Paving has already been contacted, and we are tentatively “on the books” for the repairs to be performed in late May or early June. According to the owner of Hunt’s Paving, Jimmy Hunt, we are not obligated to pay until the work is completed, Our set deadline for paying pledges is May 30, but if at all possible we’d like to get that wrapped up sooner. If you expect any delay, please let either Kent or Harrell know ASAP. Details about how to pay your pledge will be in the email you receive.

Revel in the success.

Having resided in Townsend Forest for nearly 38 years, this is the first time I can think of where neighbors came together to make a substantial, physical upgrade to the benefit of everyone. That includes residents as well as those don’t live here who use Oak Valley Ln. as a cut-through on the way to work or to Lowes Foods. And this initial repair is just the beginning. Remember, we are only bringing the road up to acceptable NC State standards so that for now on it will be cared for by DOT. That will kick in immediately, but most important is that a full repaving for the subdivision is scheduled for 2025. Oak Valley Ln., Oak Valley Ct., French Drive and Townsend Forest Rd. should all be a part of that. We’re still in discussion with DOT about the stretch of Townsend Forest Rd. at the Yanceyville Rd. end, and hopefully we will know more about that soon.
