Very likely this is one of those now or never moments. There have been a few efforts in the past to approach this problem, but this time things have progressed to a point they never have before. Critical is the fact that the ENTIRE subdivision is scheduled for a complete repaving within the next couple of years. If we correct the small portion of road not under state maintenance now, we ensure that it will also receive the same treatment. If not, then further degradation is sure to occur and will only allow further cracking, potholes, etc. that will only cost more to fix moving forward. We’re fortunate not to live under the microscope of an HOA, and demands on us as a community are rare. This is one of those times. Please give careful consideration to the bullet points below, and then it really boils down to your willingness to make a one-time financial commitment to reach our $13,500 goal.
- Read the content of this site and you comprehend what is at stake.
- Make a physical, walking visit to this affected area of road to see its problems up close along with painted markings the state has applied pinpointing the most egregious zones.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please engage with Kent or Harrell to get answers. Don’t depend on rumor or hearsay.
- Please understand that this is a time-sensitive matter. Don’t procrastinate.
- Be broad-minded enough to recognize this as a COMMUNITY matter and not just a problem for a few homeowners. The state traffic count established that some 100 vehicles a day utilize this section of road.
- That being said, it still falls upon the shoulders of a relatively small number of us to deal with this problem…or continue to suffer with it. It’s not likely that many folks outside of Townsend Forest are going to step up to the plate, nor should we expect them to. Basic math means that we are going to have to dig a bit deep into our pocketbooks. Unplanned expenses are never fun.
- Use the form on the Contact page of this site to make a financial pledge by April 30. There is nothing binding about this. Should the campaign be successful, payment of all pledges should be made by May 31 in order for paving to be scheduled and performed in early summer.
- It is our intent to keep everyone abreast the progress over the next month or so via this site, email (if you give us permission to use that to contact you) and with visual “progress thermometers” at key intersections in the subdivision. Stick with us and monitor progress.
- Let’s make it happen!
